Took way longer than expected, but that's the problem with old houses which have never been updated. For goodness sakes, we have moulding at the gables which have not been sold for years :<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9b-rLwmd-xSng90zeVAfWRJZnI6fsea4IMCZjkuXQMVjx1MnHQIBfpj8pq1DU9HxYbp7D79KgB-WDt3pbTitd-IFOFde4jTJvk64rz6ruHHbA-vM8E4i9qCdzUEvwaEgMXkgS/s1600/1103-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9b-rLwmd-xSng90zeVAfWRJZnI6fsea4IMCZjkuXQMVjx1MnHQIBfpj8pq1DU9HxYbp7D79KgB-WDt3pbTitd-IFOFde4jTJvk64rz6ruHHbA-vM8E4i9qCdzUEvwaEgMXkgS/s320/1103-2.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
and our gutters are of the semi circle variety. Can't say that I've seen them available at the hardware store in all the time I've lived here.<br />
<br />
Tada! The new porch :<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS3GmzYNBDTnm8vWy74vKHsOT-98BDdDnF0jRlaUYjeqmCGod9qsWWoj52-F75ygJYl7TOYrQ1Ro-hE8RbIe6aMEkPeGfoRDk-3Z10_82qEWEGFe9HZIdJFD17461tOxth2Nok/s1600/1103-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS3GmzYNBDTnm8vWy74vKHsOT-98BDdDnF0jRlaUYjeqmCGod9qsWWoj52-F75ygJYl7TOYrQ1Ro-hE8RbIe6aMEkPeGfoRDk-3Z10_82qEWEGFe9HZIdJFD17461tOxth2Nok/s320/1103-3.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Makes the rest of the house look shabby. We're getting quotes for new windows and siding. Most likely will go with <a href="http://www.jameshardie.com/homeowner/">Jamies Hardie fiber cement</a> ... plank lap siding for the lower half and shingle for the gables and dormers.<br />
<br />
In knitting, I've completed 4 repeats on the Widdicomb blanket. Need to do at least 4 more, but I've moved on to something else. One month on that is enough.<br />

I know I still haven't told you that I have temporarily given up knitting Arans & Ganseys, and that's why I gave away some of my Jamieson's & Hebridean 3 ply. Among other things, the recipient gave me the yarn to swatch for this : <br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNT21kDPz3KMbaCFlYOBqkawLZ2LRK3Ot3LAguWrXWMRIwJUz0jn3eHD9fX7ym2zwuw7kKt8as2iJ97Sp5GxprzUFyGuoBQUPVqTHlauN4hDlbdwdr6kIMJAJvqEtwuJm5dZS4/s1600/1112-3.jpg"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNT21kDPz3KMbaCFlYOBqkawLZ2LRK3Ot3LAguWrXWMRIwJUz0jn3eHD9fX7ym2zwuw7kKt8as2iJ97Sp5GxprzUFyGuoBQUPVqTHlauN4hDlbdwdr6kIMJAJvqEtwuJm5dZS4/s320/1112-3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527202942140727906" /></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRYVOoDW408OFKevKYbnRbgwxhFDxd1_eIaeZ0lQCCGpxqNCxaK1_kq7WhHHhN14v1sksbtJ3tY4M9Ynp3O4djFxsWooyoq1YkpSuqYxLpaE_vnmVF8viYU4dpirVqpY8Dh1fT/s1600/1112-2.jpg"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRYVOoDW408OFKevKYbnRbgwxhFDxd1_eIaeZ0lQCCGpxqNCxaK1_kq7WhHHhN14v1sksbtJ3tY4M9Ynp3O4djFxsWooyoq1YkpSuqYxLpaE_vnmVF8viYU4dpirVqpY8Dh1fT/s320/1112-2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527202934064880482" /></a><br /><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">Partially new item :</span><br />That's the Widdicombe Fair blanket. Instead of a baby blanket, I'm doing a single or lap blanket. Did 8 repeats in the width instead of the 5 called for. Now that I know how much yarn of each colour I need for a repeat, I've ordered enough for 6 or 7 more repeats.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">New item</span><br />The roofers came bright & early this morning and started cutting up the house. If you look at the pics, you'll see that they sliced through the siding and pulled out the insulation. I think that they'll be putting in a pillar/verandah post there.<br /><br />If I sound vague, it's not my job! It's Eric's (the Architect) job to translate my ideas into drawings and specs. Bill's (the builder) job to change those drawings into reality, the husband's job to pay the bills. Mine is to provide an environment where the workers can do their work. I make sure that the dogs are locked up, the front door is open so that the workers have access to the bathroom, power points etc. and I don't grumble about the noise or dirt.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHRuTmcAGOfIQWnHitq658dkhk_Wstu1nLFhWAUzDX_J9wUNkIYyr20ioDGCL-OsGzNH-HEv9BhM2a0jjMC3DNfETgPhyphenhyphen8NIN-O547RBZ5GKzbWB232p3w4OqPJAA94gvuwYis/s1600/house-2.jpg"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHRuTmcAGOfIQWnHitq658dkhk_Wstu1nLFhWAUzDX_J9wUNkIYyr20ioDGCL-OsGzNH-HEv9BhM2a0jjMC3DNfETgPhyphenhyphen8NIN-O547RBZ5GKzbWB232p3w4OqPJAA94gvuwYis/s320/house-2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527203230195030082" /></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimqlZQT3QzMbokkUC0L04hXOIUsvwGGrMDb5Zlo3P1msRRHNniJdWHIUO7O-eO_wf65qtV8c5rI7tuKgb3KSVmBvJciaz-oX8s_5ezm7BTh0PalIg1P51IXBtjHLMRl0qk4Wtn/s1600/IMG_3001.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimqlZQT3QzMbokkUC0L04hXOIUsvwGGrMDb5Zlo3P1msRRHNniJdWHIUO7O-eO_wf65qtV8c5rI7tuKgb3KSVmBvJciaz-oX8s_5ezm7BTh0PalIg1P51IXBtjHLMRl0qk4Wtn/s320/IMG_3001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527203223151936738" /></a><br /><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">New item</span><br />The next knitting project is Keava :<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9zEyIEdWiY8FBIuE1wZwUlyZz1V56Lk8tAFCQs0zPgT5jpj75zxFX-bDuJ7YmGkRjAtclfnlaCGQV_Catmg8OkBE4c8CZNijoKq3dggZCRp0vxi89_xD9Yk42ItA0YID7OeU-/s1600/IMG_3004.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9zEyIEdWiY8FBIuE1wZwUlyZz1V56Lk8tAFCQs0zPgT5jpj75zxFX-bDuJ7YmGkRjAtclfnlaCGQV_Catmg8OkBE4c8CZNijoKq3dggZCRp0vxi89_xD9Yk42ItA0YID7OeU-/s320/IMG_3004.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527202926856573650" /></a><br /><br />I'll be casting on while I sit outside waiting for the City Plumbing inspector (needs to check that the water heater was installed properly) & the mailman, who has missed picking up my package 2 days in a row. Breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? How often?<br /><br />- How about drinks? Coffee? Soda? Depends on the weather?<br /><br />- What about toilet facilities?<br /><br />Even though a new kitchen is part of the remodelling, I do believe that I will have a working kitchen for most of the time period as the present kitchen will not be gutted till after the extension has been finished though not necessarily fitted.<br /><br />Toilets - there's a spare in the basement.<br /><br />Thanks for the replies guys.<br /><br />It's a little outside work right now. They seemed to have coffees when they arrived at 8 this morning and so I didn't offer them anything. Since it was still chilly at 11ish, I went out to offer them coffee, but they had obviously left to get rid of the junk and have lunch.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKybbVQ0-pbtiB_6qB5DmlAXzrf7T_Va_3aywYWTkuYcK52iBte9WxMsKZzpdgRqtxGz2ipki8GvoP081VpRou-M8OjUCFamE_prg8p9tWPWhkJds8r1BfV7ksdAeg-GHanMJ3/s1600/IMG_2973.JPG"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKybbVQ0-pbtiB_6qB5DmlAXzrf7T_Va_3aywYWTkuYcK52iBte9WxMsKZzpdgRqtxGz2ipki8GvoP081VpRou-M8OjUCFamE_prg8p9tWPWhkJds8r1BfV7ksdAeg-GHanMJ3/s400/IMG_2973.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5522420746777667058" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWuMMsbxlSZzCMS7wRNXDsslFDgmL5_RDgEwg532_ovYiEqSWNjw1RZ_pLDzS-ScXQI3v9zMBj2p6wW_PngVODlHv0JxjrSBjFwMq0mr2bTmxY6fQ-DB5p6EjfqrdoUVePCTuy/s1600/IMG_2972.JPG"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWuMMsbxlSZzCMS7wRNXDsslFDgmL5_RDgEwg532_ovYiEqSWNjw1RZ_pLDzS-ScXQI3v9zMBj2p6wW_PngVODlHv0JxjrSBjFwMq0mr2bTmxY6fQ-DB5p6EjfqrdoUVePCTuy/s400/IMG_2972.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5522420742048521202" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie_ZrkAPRUgkorj0lNHLnLsypKauJGYUmyVSPjQ2wByitnCovF5hOm2S0ibXXlVIZu9qJLyVZFYQ5H5A01W5hmmRz0dkgX18V_IFSH6R8jeyqriuadphbekJt8Oz_yiYRICbSH/s1600/IMG_2971.JPG"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie_ZrkAPRUgkorj0lNHLnLsypKauJGYUmyVSPjQ2wByitnCovF5hOm2S0ibXXlVIZu9qJLyVZFYQ5H5A01W5hmmRz0dkgX18V_IFSH6R8jeyqriuadphbekJt8Oz_yiYRICbSH/s400/IMG_2971.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5522420734330673090" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPTPInT_MYWms_TG_DtTW7F9sz-m0ZT6w_d1_N4zkyH3y-C6C4-T3ovQ_R2qcqM8FHKrJrujvz6D9_aQoHmJrxBSFYSFYPKfAw97YdaIZd4PI1ezjvE6UjHI2BF0W2mIsaXzXs/s1600/IMG_2974.JPG"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPTPInT_MYWms_TG_DtTW7F9sz-m0ZT6w_d1_N4zkyH3y-C6C4-T3ovQ_R2qcqM8FHKrJrujvz6D9_aQoHmJrxBSFYSFYPKfAw97YdaIZd4PI1ezjvE6UjHI2BF0W2mIsaXzXs/s400/IMG_2974.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5522420746815689938" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />When the jackhammering stopped at 2:45ish, I guessed that they were packing up and quickly put together an esky (Australian for igloo or cooler) full of soda and water.<br /><br /><a href="http://extremeknittingredhead.blogspot.com/">Susie</a>, you do too much.<br /><br />I promise I'll do better tomorrow ;-)Marinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18138266794924614352noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9977411.post-43719566223707380572010-09-25T06:03:00.006-05:002010-09-25T06:42:41.776-05:00One year later....... Sometimes I break the yarn and sometimes I just rip till I get to the beginning. With Flying Geese, after making sure I have a large, clean area,I ripped first. Then I wound it on a niddy-noddy, making sure not to stretch the yarn.<-- that is not going to get rid of the kinks.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipk8ghqwOFc6cP01T8jkkR-VbeaSWPTQsQ8Qnmq6dmrxlA4MJctHZYL2qsx_SU6fFkY8-tqoFGXsw6LaBO8S4TCfEhudT5cIdHjCrXImPS0uysCzxzYujGHeuiUxF9spUNiJ4k/s1600/IMG_2961.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipk8ghqwOFc6cP01T8jkkR-VbeaSWPTQsQ8Qnmq6dmrxlA4MJctHZYL2qsx_SU6fFkY8-tqoFGXsw6LaBO8S4TCfEhudT5cIdHjCrXImPS0uysCzxzYujGHeuiUxF9spUNiJ4k/s400/IMG_2961.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5520457153126813794" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Wash<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3uRtJ-W2YdJSwMIt0jfHS857d7W08r6unTMj1OkQl-1udfVecSNsiW8OeGu7mqIVXqLybIm4F6B4bXvOhtYEd64BArFFxw7u0PUWN5bFazVixTYKxF61JXGwiR8ZIdFVtb_se/s1600/IMG_2964.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3uRtJ-W2YdJSwMIt0jfHS857d7W08r6unTMj1OkQl-1udfVecSNsiW8OeGu7mqIVXqLybIm4F6B4bXvOhtYEd64BArFFxw7u0PUWN5bFazVixTYKxF61JXGwiR8ZIdFVtb_se/s400/IMG_2964.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5520459322941670130" border="0" /></a><br /><br />After tying it in 4 places, I put it in a sink/bucket of *shampoo solution. I then carefully squeeze it (like you would a sponge), making sure that it is thoroughly wet. After ~15 minutes of soaking, grabbing one of the tied portions, I lift it out,<--since it is full of water, this is about the only time it is stretched - and squeeze as much water as possible out. Since I use shampoo, I go through the same process again with fresh water. <br /><br />Dry <br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKzRKpn3KlOC-edmTSW0pjjOVxXMr_OXiJ86Z_Q0i9dOjejFiXg5PkZAgJB0bNAcOfnRH_GJN0MPj5qwZCyIT3_49IWY4hnn2EfmkvGgcBUrp7ce1hb-9XNoi2-ipC-y_S-JAj/s1600/IMG_2966.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKzRKpn3KlOC-edmTSW0pjjOVxXMr_OXiJ86Z_Q0i9dOjejFiXg5PkZAgJB0bNAcOfnRH_GJN0MPj5qwZCyIT3_49IWY4hnn2EfmkvGgcBUrp7ce1hb-9XNoi2-ipC-y_S-JAj/s400/IMG_2966.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5520461205218447698" border="0" /></a><br />The Scottish Fleet with the nearly dry Hebridean 3ply. Weights were not used on any.<br /><br />The hank is then placed over a hanger and left to dry in a cool, airy place. If the knitted item has been that way for a long period, you might still see kinks (the stitches). I've seen others tie weight plates to stretch it out. I've used a multi-pants/trouser hanger. It doesn't take very much weight to get rid of the leftover kinks and with the multi pants/trousers hanger, you can add weight gradually by hanging clothes on it.<br /><br />Personally, I would rather have leftover kinks than stretch the yarn and risk it not bouncing back.<br /><br />*why I use shampoo<br />- if it is good enough for my hair, it should be good enough for sheep hair/wool.<br />- on a scale, shampoo is the mildest, while powdered clothes detergent is the harshest/most alkaline. Dish detergent and liquid clothes detergent are between these two. When felting/fulling, the alkaline works on the scales to open them and agitating the item causes it to felt. You want to avoid this when you're washing yarn or your finished object, and that's why I use shampoo.<br />- I don't use no rinse products because I can't see where the dirt goes if you don't rinse. YMMV.<br /><br />Getting rid of excess water<br />In some of her books, AS mentions spinning them in the washing machine. I do that with sweaters. If I were to do it for yarn, I would put it in a pillow case. Remember that you're not spinning it in a tub of water. Put it in an empty washing machine and turn the dial to the gentle spin setting. It does not need to go through the whole cycle. I usually take it out after a few seconds.<br /><br />If this is too scary, you could put the wet yarn between a couple of towels and pat dry.<br /><br />Tieing the yarn<br />The more times you tie, the less chance of tangling. When tieing, do it firmly so that it can't move around during the washing process, but you will need to loosen it when you dry as the tied portions will not dry as quickly as the rest.Marinahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18138266794924614352noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9977411.post-14501647347743392672010-09-23T17:29:00.003-05:002010-09-23T17:56:56.109-05:00Rip or Knit!It's time to admit that of these designs are beyond my current ability :<br /><br />Valtos in Hebridean 3plyin Tormentil (discontinued)<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHrrVj5bmDCqxjbUqbds1xBJxXMf3AurCzgIiNoNaYSxtkv62E5Thc3g6nML1jDoVmp7CSmRK-UYtHit9QbY7wNSl_jLN_izu6h6fXYYIVCvGkRgtzdAJ_o4azkueJTd2wOtIn/s288/0215-1.jpg"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 288px; height: 211px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHrrVj5bmDCqxjbUqbds1xBJxXMf3AurCzgIiNoNaYSxtkv62E5Thc3g6nML1jDoVmp7CSmRK-UYtHit9QbY7wNSl_jLN_izu6h6fXYYIVCvGkRgtzdAJ_o4azkueJTd2wOtIn/s288/0215-1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Ripped, washed & drying<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Flying Geese jacket in AS Scottish Fleet in Fudge (discontinued)<br /><br /><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/_yRubxMZpu_DWWJpAFmet93h1b6-13LvSKYZMktqpW0?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkAeKlJvggueLFRWeY9PZHJmq7wpMMrfu2NvM4g4v4Lu_XsTlGLie1YvvpYjvCDfYd58KTdwM1Rtx69ZWZjUQK80I_iDposmZa9WoZZhlYbvwTbtTdSrCV1SzrR66OLmDwAQeh/s288/1222-2.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><br />Ripped.<br /><br />Little River Soft Shetland in Nighthawk<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDRR28pdJdDpQEjC2xHWR7R3bv6mXsm7NxKuIlqYZoo_YUMnn7jHT_zS70JdNJcswsPTVQeRdACMbWMGZ5LDdwt9iiLZ88xhjThsrRdWLP4E06YWYEBRPGm5lvdPXDCJ4dFXrJ/s288/1225-2.jpg"></a><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/DWK6vq9EwiDKik0LzA1ARt3h1b6-13LvSKYZMktqpW0?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDRR28pdJdDpQEjC2xHWR7R3bv6mXsm7NxKuIlqYZoo_YUMnn7jHT_zS70JdNJcswsPTVQeRdACMbWMGZ5LDdwt9iiLZ88xhjThsrRdWLP4E06YWYEBRPGm5lvdPXDCJ4dFXrJ/s288/1225-2.jpg" /></a><br /><br />This is a tough one. Stopped counting after I passed 110, 100gm skeins and 9, 50 gm balls. There was Brown Sheep, Classic Elite 50/50 llama & wool, Cherry Tree Pot Luck, vintage Handsome Harry and even the Briggs & Little Aran weight which I swatched for Columbia.<br /><br />It was time to admit that they ( and the ones I turfed in the garbage) stopped making me happy, long ago. There's another ~10 kgs. that I'm ambivalent about. Might list them on Ravelry later, after I've taken pictures.<br /><br />In real life, I'm a yo-yo dieter, so it shouldn't surprise you that I've started filling up the empty space left by the destashing : <br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO9sT_ebibrdxqXqKds_-pRxMpgMPyRi0B8qOqQ6QLF6LS6q9HvxTLAwy8s3nDaTruCWaH8FBuciVnmjNCV1McJm4ozBzsY0qraubJbrZOxvZm1-GRcfhtn3gICQXYjcqpi_Bt/s1600-h/0629-3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO9sT_ebibrdxqXqKds_-pRxMpgMPyRi0B8qOqQ6QLF6LS6q9HvxTLAwy8s3nDaTruCWaH8FBuciVnmjNCV1McJm4ozBzsY0qraubJbrZOxvZm1-GRcfhtn3gICQXYjcqpi_Bt/s400/0629-3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5352839472159263346" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br />In case some of you think it's just another of my crazy ideas :<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjayR8xorVX0A2zhTok_N0YALG4H__AO9XMn6XuiKnVLxu4kcO5DQP-Bp4Rrj9vpYzL7UO8fOTHOwlD51ozDJMS5WaZ2GPNkv9tdFKOOhoPrx0k6mj2GP3KnE8IE_9CUIRaOt6Q/s1600-h/0628-3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjayR8xorVX0A2zhTok_N0YALG4H__AO9XMn6XuiKnVLxu4kcO5DQP-Bp4Rrj9vpYzL7UO8fOTHOwlD51ozDJMS5WaZ2GPNkv9tdFKOOhoPrx0k6mj2GP3KnE8IE_9CUIRaOt6Q/s400/0628-3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5352839459199981186" /></a><br /><br />Another practise piece to see which method was most comfortable for me. The husband messed up the previous one (which I put in) when he made it "easier" for me to get at. <br /><br />The garden is "strange". Armed with a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Certificate_of_Education" target="_blank">G.C.E. "O" level</a> in Needlework & Dressmaking, I used to sew some of my clothes and colourful, board shorts for Kidlet #2. We were living in <a href="http://www.countrywide.com.au/welcome.html" target="_blank">Perth</a>, at that time.<br /><br />Anyway, I suddenly got it into my head that I needed a few, flowy, flowery skirts. Shopping for material here is so different. In Singapore, (which is where I bought my fabrics), a person would go to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People%27s_Park_Complex" target="_blank">People's Park</a>. I remember that at least one floor of the shopping area was occupied by nothing, but fabric stores. I don't understand why this <strike>dump</strike> city can't support a decent fabric store.<br /><br />Anyhow, after consulting with <a href="http://unraveledagain.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Sharon</a>, I got these :<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz5VBeAvx6GZj0YJtasOSR5quvVPWtmWXB18j2q9ZRqZGvo-k_exunjEZNiBFN0yVboavNRALNUm7qX7GYT3Ml3qiFm2wkm7TKkulsJJhXOQZCO86ggYIZtHyP3IhYE29-BjfM/s1600-h/0610-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz5VBeAvx6GZj0YJtasOSR5quvVPWtmWXB18j2q9ZRqZGvo-k_exunjEZNiBFN0yVboavNRALNUm7qX7GYT3Ml3qiFm2wkm7TKkulsJJhXOQZCO86ggYIZtHyP3IhYE29-BjfM/s400/0610-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345654776167992578" /></a><br /><br />It looks like "quilting fabric" because it is!
